Designing for the people who use and support shared mobility

At Wheels, I redesigned the company website and designed internal tools for tracking the fleet, managing repairs, and recording work activity.

01 — Overview

Wheels was a shared mobility company with a product experience that extended beyond the ride itself. The company also needed tools to support the work happening behind the scenes, from finding damaged vehicles to managing repairs.

As a contract product designer, I worked across both sides of the business: the public website and internal fleet operations.

I collaborated with the product team, marketing, and the CEO to turn business needs into clearer digital experiences.

02 — The challenge

One company, different needs

The public website needed to communicate the Wheels experience clearly. Internal teams needed a way to track vehicles and the work required to keep them running.

These were different design challenges, but both required me to take complex information and turn it into a usable experience.

03 — My role

My work included:

  • Redesigning the Wheels company website
  • Designing internal fleet tracking experiences
  • Exploring workflows for finding damaged bikes and managing repairs
  • Designing ways to track work hours and activity
  • Creating user flows and interface designs
  • Collaborating with product, marketing, and the CEO

04 — Internal fleet operations

Making behind the scenes work easier to follow

Shared mobility depends on more than what riders see. Vehicles need to be tracked, damage needs to be identified, and repair work needs to be organized.

I designed internal experiences around those operational needs, including fleet tracking, repair workflows, and work activity.

01Fleet trackingDesigned views to help the team find and track bikes within the fleet, including vehicles that needed attention.
02Repair workflowsDesigned experiences around identifying damaged bikes and supporting the repair process.
03Work activityDesigned ways to track hours and work time connected to fleet operations.

05 — Website redesign

Presenting Wheels to the outside world

Alongside the internal product work, I redesigned the Wheels company website.

I worked with the product team, marketing, and the CEO to translate the company’s goals into a clearer visual and digital experience.

The website work gave me the opportunity to think about how the company presented itself, while the internal tools focused on the people supporting the fleet day to day.

06 — Design approach

01Understand the workflowI started by considering what information the team needed to find, what work needed attention, and how those activities connected.
02Make important information clearFleet and repair work involves multiple details. I focused on organizing information so people could understand the task in front of them.
03Design for different audiencesThe public website and internal tools served different purposes. I adapted the experience to the audience and the work each needed to accomplish.

07 — Outcome

I delivered design work for the Wheels website and internal fleet operations tools, including tracking, repairs, and work activity.

The project reflects my ability to move between a public facing brand experience and operational workflows while working closely with product, marketing, and company leadership.
